A little birdy tells me that having studied the evidence the FIM have rescinded the 4 hour penalty imposed on SCEC hero Stan Watt for alledgedly missing a Check Point on Stage 13 of the Dakar.Stan crashed heavily during the stage causing considerable damage to his 690 KTM, including it's GPS system, and although the damage initially appeared terminal both bike and GPS lived to fight another day. Stan was somehow able to coax his faithful KTM back into life and in spite of the damage to the GPS the organisers were later able to interrogate it with their computer systems and prove conclusively that Stan had indeed made it to the check point.
This places Stan in 17th position overall and WINNER OF THE MARATHON CLASS! That's right folks, Stan won his class in his first ever Dakar - awesome, bloody awesome!!
