2012 Dates...

Please find below our provisional dates for 2012.  We're planning to run a minimum of 4 events with two new venues and 2 old favourites, plus the possibility of a fifth if the venue works out. We've been asked to keep quiet about the whereabouts of this venue for now, but we can say that back in the nineties we hit the sweet spot so well there we even had mainstream TV turn up! Fingers crossed!!!

The dates for your diary are:

  • 26th February
  • 18th or 25th March (venue permitting)
  • 20th May
  • 23rd September
  • 25th November

    November 27th Hare & Hounds...

Regs for our next event on the 27th November are now available, and it's at one of the best traditional Hare  and Hounds venues in the South - Bramblecombe Farm!
This was to be the venue for this years 'Maze in the Maize' event which so sadly had to be cancelled, but we are absolutely delighted to be able to confirm that the farmer has agreed for us to return there later in the year for a more traditional event.

This is a fabulous traditional Hare and Hounds venue, it features a circuit of around 5 miles made up primarily of rolling grassland, with woodland, farm tracks and a small 'stubble-cross' area guaranteeing something special for everybody!

At SCEC we strive to put on the best events possible for the enthusiastic rider. This means finding the best venues, working together with land owners to put together sustainable but truly exciting and enjoyable circuits, and not ruining everything by taking too many entries.  All we ask in return is that you enter in plenty of time.

Entries are now open and we urge you you to help us by getting yours in as soon as you can.

    Results of Tyre Poll...

Thank you to those of you who took the time to complete our recent 'Tyre Poll', the poll is now closed and the results are as follows:

    • 67% for Enduro tyres
    • 16% for Trials tyres
    • 16% no tyre preference

Obviously there are some venues where Trials tyres will still be necessary but we'll use Enduro spec. tyres whenever possible.  Compared with Moto-x tyres Enduro tyres massively reduce the amount of irreparable damage we do to the land, partly with clever design and rubber compounds, but mostly because of their much reduced tread depth.
To pass scrutineering you need only comply with the tread depth - it doesn't need to be highway approved - so if you take a grinder to a worn moto-x tyre, tidy it up and reduce the knob height to 13mm maximum (use an 13mm headed M8 bolt as a gauge) you're good to go.  It's an eco friendly option in more ways than one, and it'll save you a bundle too. We're all in favour of that!

Maze in the Maize (18th September)

Regs for our next event at Bramblecombe Farm on the 18th September are now available.

This fabulous venue features a circuit of around 5 to 6 miles made up primarily of rolling grassland, woodland and farm tracks, with a little added 'maze in the maize' for extra spice -  awesome!
