Team Front Row GB are READY!

"With the last minute confirmation of a placement at the UK Dirt Bike Show, Front Row GB were literally still finalising their stand layouts as the show was about to officially open.

It was the intention for Front Row GB to be complete for at least the first day of the show as prior commitments would restrict both riders over the weekend.

The Walker Ecosse MAN 6x6 T5 Support vehicle had arrived a few days in advance to be dressed in its livery for Dakar 2008, get a prime location as the public entered the main entrance to the show and to primarily load its cargo from Edmondson Racing for the support of the two team riders.

Four KTM690s were rebuilt after being sprayed and lacquered in the team colours and arrived the night before the show opened.

Many thanks goes to all who pushed their limits to get everything ready on time; not only for the show but also realising this would be the last chance to get things together for the start of the Dakar itself.

It was excellent to see Adventure Spec with a good range of clothing that caught the eye of many customers and produced some superb interest from the public

With the only Dakar ready, KTM690 Factory Rally bikes in the UK; substantial interest was continuous throughout the show with the two motorcycles on the Front Row GB stand, the single bike on the Talon/Michelin stand and the showpiece at the entrance of the show with one bike and the T5 MAN Support truck.

Front Row GB are currently finalizing administration for an expected departure for Lisbon between Christmas and the New Year with the team being complete in the Portuguese city by early morning 1st January ’08"

A decade or so ago I worked for the Dakar - I know what that race is all about and how hard it really is. I also know how hard these guys have worked to put the team together that will hopefully see them through to Lac Rose. It's an amazing effort and we feel truly privileged and proud every time we see those little SCEC stickers on their bikes.

Keep an eye on their website - it's gonna be a hell of a ride!

DPMCC Hare & Hounds Enduro (3rd February)

The 2008 DPMCC event is at Bovington Forest, just a few miles up the road from the Hethfelton Forest venue. Although this is a brand new venue we know the area well and it's superb - and as DPMCC always make the best of their venues this should be an event not to be missed!

We are delighted to be helping out with lap scoring/timing again - and all being well this will be the first outing for our amazing new software system which not only displays the rider's lap number and laptime, but also displays his position on a big screen so he can see how he (or she) is doing - well it is the 21st century after all!

Somerley Park results

What a race!

Congratulations and well done to everyone who finished. If you found it a bit of a struggle pat yourself on the back and have a thought for the poor chap who completely buried his TM. The line he chose was never gonna work - he's obviously been watching too many Snowmobile racing over water videos!

Somerley Park Last Minute Changes

Ok so the weather’s bloody awful, but don’t fret, it’s done nothing to dampen enthusiasm for Sunday’s race. It’s going to be a fantastic days racing!

Of course so much rain has meant we’ve had to make some significant route changes (mostly to avoid big bad bogs!) but we’ve also had to make other changes too – including to the planned start procedure. The only start area currently available is too small to start each class in one big wave so we’ll be breaking the entry up into smaller more manageable waves (as we do at Stonedown for example).
We have a big entry including a lot of new faces and in order for everything to run smoothly everybody will have to work together as a team.

It is imperative that every rider has the correct number on their bike (including the prefix for Championship/Expert/Over40 classes) and that they are aware of their start and finish times (If you have a lousy memory just stick a bit of duct tape somewhere handy with your start/finish time written on it!).

Start/finish times and race numbers are listed for each rider against their name on the entrants list.

Finally,
please make sure you turn up with the right tyres & exhausts.

Rear tyres must be Enduro specification - specifically the tread height must not exceed 13mm anywhere on the tyre.

The exhaust level is standard FIM enduro (94db) - pre-2008 model 4 stroke moto-x bikes WILL need an enduro pipe or quiet insert.

Other ways to enjoy the ride!

UPDATED 28/11

Virtually everyone that races with SCEC has one thing in common - we all want to have fun!
When we aren't racing our dirtbikes we find all sorts of other ways to get our kicks: Mountain Biking, Windsurfing, Surfing, Canoing & Sailing to name but a few. So we thought it would be pretty cool to host a blog where you can tell your riding buddies what you're up to and invite them along. If you'd like to make regular posts (maybe you organise regular mountain bike rides like Alan Wakely for example) let me know and we can arrange for you to make the posts directly to the blog - or if you want to make a post very occasionally just email them to me and I'll post them for you .

Feel free to add a comment to an existing post (just click the comment box below the post) but please keep them clean and nice. Anything abusive will be deleted.

You will find the link to the Extreme Fun blog on the links section of this page or go directly to http://scecextremefun.blogspot.com/
