Stan & Jon's (FrontRowGB) Dakar News...

FrontRow GB have set up a blog for all those interested in receiving live feeds and email notification as the Dakar Rally in South America progresses.

Not only will the information be collated from the Dakar organisors and media groups on the ground, but also the Front Row GB riders as they tackle every day in the Rally.

Jon Stamper, Stan Watt and the support crew of Stuart Walker, Gordon MacDonald and Dave Marton will have permanent and separate satellite communication capability throughout the rally and will be feeding live information as each day goes by. This will then be fed into the blog where those who have ‘signed up’ can access all areas including photographs, live audio and blogs written by the riders.

To sign up for this ‘’free’’ service just click this link http://frontrowgb.blogspot.com/ then use the subscribe link to the right of the blog page, some simple information and you will then be active for the service and also be able to communicate with the riders from today until the end of the Dakar Rally on 18th January 2009.

You can still access information on the Team website www.frontrowgb.com, on the Team Facebook page, www.facebook.com then search for FrontRow GB and live audio feeds recorded by Rally Radio www.rallyradio.net

These guys are your team mates and they're carrying those little SCEC stickers on their bikes with pride - use their blog and let them know you're behind them all the way!

2009 SCEC preview…

For around 15 years SCEC have offered members the chance to take part in some of the country’s finest events at some of the country’s finest venues – moving into 2009 we will raise the bar still further. A couple of outstanding new venues, a new sponsor along with a sponsorship agreement that will benefit every rider, and continuing new innovations such as the new timing system with live results display (including the possibility for riders to see their position as they scan) and the amazing new endurotext system that’s sends your results to your mobile within minutes of the race finishing.

For 2009 Membership/Registration will no longer be obligatory, however there will be a higher entry fee for non-registered riders and only registered riders will be eligible for awards & championship points. Priority for places will always be given to registered riders.

The 2009 Championship series will be known as the S.C.O.R.E series. There will be 6 rounds - each round quite different from the others. The series will have a new scoring system. 1st place will get 1 point, second 2, and so on for every finisher. DNFs will be awarded the same number of points as the number of finishers in their class plus 1. Riders registered for the series but not starting a race will be awarded the same points as a DNF plus 10 points. If a rider competes in all 6 rounds his worst finish will be dropped (so 5 of 6 the rounds will count). The winner will be the rider who has the lowest overall point score so rewarding consistency.

There will be 3 rounds to the popular summer evening series. The evening series will use the same scoring system as the S.C.O.R.E series except that all 3 rounds will count.

Both series will feature 9 classes:

• Championship/Pro

• Expert

• Expert Vets/+40

• Ladies

• Clubman (E1/E2 or 2 stroke/4 stroke - see poll on SCEC news page)

• Sportsman

• Sportsman +40

• Novice

With our unrivalled experience, passion and innovation, SCEC continue to offer enthusiastic riders the opportunity to participate in some of the country’s most competitive and exciting events, yet still offers a friendly & supportive atmosphere that embraces beginners and has them coming back and begging for more. Welcome to SCEC 2009… Enjoy the ride!

AMCA Championship final round!

We done and thank you to everybody who made this event such a superb day out, and well done to our boys for putting on such a good show against strong competition!

Statement from Pete Carter - co-ordinator of the 2008 AMCA British Hare and Hound Enduro Championship...

"2008 saw the inaugural running of the AMCA’s British Hare and Hound Enduro Championship
Four rounds were run by the four AMCA Enduro Clubs namely
Cotswold Enduro Club, Chiltern Hills Enduro Club, Xmoor Enduro Club and lastly Southern Counties Enduro Club.

The series main aim and hopes were to initially keep it low key and to make up the majority of the entries through the four clubs membership bases and not attract too many one off pothunters
This was for the most part achieved and although entries at most of the rounds were slightly disappointing. The series most felt was a success and can be built on for 2009 with hopefully some major support from both the trade and industry within motorcycle sport
The possibility of up to eight rounds to be run with a bit more glitz and glamour but without sacrificing the main aim of running good old fashioned Hare & Hound events for all abilities.

A massive thanks to all the clubs for taking the series on which was a gamble for all in many ways but I’m sure all feel was well worth it. All the clubs were put under massive pressures not in the normal way but by the good old British weather

The first round run by the Cotswold Enduro Club saw superb conditions on the Saturday and then overnight and all day Sunday we had heavy rain which turned the Shuckburgh Hall track into a monster and a true extreme challenge

Next up wash Chiltern Hills Enduro Club at the superb Lane End track

Again good conditions on the Saturday and then an unbelievable sight of 6” of snow on the Sunday with many riders not being able to get anywhere near the event – the club had no choice but to cancel and reschedule. At the re scheduled event Saturday again was set fair and on race day more rain but the event ran and was also very tough for most

Then round three staged by Xmoor Enduro Club at the superb Rifton Barton venue. To add to the again rainy conditions the riders had the added challenge of using trials tyres on the rear making grip and braking a character building exercise in its self. This alone made the event extreme for some

Last but not least saw the vastly experience set up of Gary Warr's Southern Counties Enduro Club running the fourth and final round at their Milton Abbas venue a good mixture of woodland, open going and even several by now very deep river crossings added to by yet again torrential over night rain. This left many a rider thinking there was no way the event would run, but with Gary's choice of venue and track design to match the event and organisation was spot on with the track even getting better as the race went on.

The car park was for some more of a challenge but no tractors were needed just a few 4X4’s and a little camaraderie saw everyone leave the venue with no dramas
So in short a tough series for both riders and clubs but a great success that can only get bigger and better and will develop into a true British Championship
A massive thanks to the AMCA for fully backing this series not only financially and in trophies etc. but in the user friendly way they assist clubs in all ways

Yours in sport

Pete Carter"

--
Everything is now in place for tomorrow's final round of the inaugural AMCA Hare & Hounds Championship series. We're delighted to be hosting the event and have carefully designed a 5 mile course around our Bramblecombe Farm venue that
will remain rideable and enjoyable in spite of the horrendous rainfall over the past days

The course is mostly fast and flowing but naturally there's the odd obstacle here and there, including 4 river crossings, an apple covered downhill (that will be extremely entertaining during he early laps!), short but oh so slippery grassy cambers, and plenty of roots in the woods to look out for - whatever you look for in a cross-country race you won't be disappointed!

Hardy's Monument Enduro, just a few spaces left...

SCEC have been running innovative and exciting events in the South of England for many years now, and whilst visiting compact but interesting venues and shying away from mammoth entries may not make for great headlines, it does make for great events, and that is SCEC’s raison d'etre!

The next event on 27th April at Blackdown Forest by the famous Hardy’s Monument in Dorset is a prime example - a totally traditional forest venue which although compact, manages to incorporate all manner of enduro going (except bogs!).
It will run to a two race format that will allow the Championship through Clubman riders a fair crack at the course without having to worry too much about traffic in the morning, and as this type of going generally becomes more rideable as the race progresses, by the time the Sportsman and Novice riders line up for the afternoon race they should be presented with a slightly easier course and the knowledge that they will be able to concentrate on their riding without fear of being ploughed down by lads traveling 3 or 4 times their speed.

Not only that but many of the clubs fastest and more experienced riders have volunteered to go out and help coax the lads round in the afternoon race – almost like race and coaching session all rolled into one!

You can download regs or enter online at www.EnjoytheRide.org.uk, but there are now just a few spaces left so you'll have to pull your finger out!

CANCELLATION OF 20/21ST SEPTEMBER ‘BEC’ ROUND

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUBJECT: CANCELLATION OF 20/21ST SEPTEMBER ‘BEC’ ROUND

Southern Counties EC have received notification from the Forestry Commission that they will not now be able to use Ringwood Forest as a part of their proposed 2008 BEC round. The 20 mile Ringwood Forest check is crucial to the event and it’s loss leaves the organisers with no option other than to reluctantly cancel the event. The club have been working on preparations for this event for well over a year and are totally devastated by the news.
Speaking on behalf of Southern Counties EC Gary Warr said “The Forestry Commission locally have an extremely positive and supportive attitude towards all manner of forest based activities, including enduro, for which they should be applauded. However they have recently been subjected to a savage protest driven media campaign over their decision to create a small area for musical events to take place within the forest and, given the strength of local objection to the occasional relatively innocuous music event, they probably had little choice but to pull the plug on what is after all a pretty large scale motorcycle event.
Should the BEC round have gone ahead and encountered this level of protest we would have had to seriously consider the full ramifications of running the event, including the paramount issue of competitor’s safety – it might therefore be just as well the decision has been taken now. In spite of the disappointment Southern Counties EC remains fully committed to running BEC events in the future and has already started working towards 2009”

AMCA Hare & Hounds Championship kicks off this weekend!

This weekend Chiltern Hills Enduro Club will run the first round of the new National AMCA Hare & Hounds Championship series.

The event will run to the usual Chiltern Hills format – a fairly long lap (8 to 10 miles) and a 2 session race. One 2 hour session followed by a break for lunch then a second 2 hour session - the results being calculated on the aggregate.

Riders traveling from far afield should check with Chiltern Hills as there is limited camping due to the parking field being rather wet - riders that are camping are being asked not to arrive before 16:00hrs on Saturday.

SCEC welcome HERO to the team!

The GoPro Motorsports Hero is the smallest lightest wireless digital video camera you can buy. We love 'em! They're waterproof, mudproof and dustproof - in fact they're damn near bomb proof, and after months of playing with our own GoPro we are delighted to welcome HERO aboard as a technical partner for 2008. In addition to Championship series product prizes HERO have provided a full Motorsports Hero package for use at the races. We'll pick a rider at random at the pre-race briefing, attach the Hero cam to the lucky rider's bike or helmet (it only takes a minute) and leave them to it! He or she will get to keep a copy for themselves and the best bits will appear on the web for the world to see - fame and glory is yours for the taking!

Of course if you can't wait to win one you can always buy one - click the logo to visit the Hero website or get down to your local extreme sports dealer.

Hardy's Monument Hare & Hounds Enduro - 27th April

This is an awesome venue, perfect for a traditional forest event - what the marketing boys in Austria might call 'hard enduro'. If you fancy something a bit tougher than the norm this is an event not to be missed!

But this an event for ALL riders of ALL abilities, not just the fast boys.

In the morning we'll have the Championship/Expert/Clubman race, then after lunch a race for the Novice/Sportsman & less experienced Clubman riders, but this will be a race with a difference...

It'll be the very same course, a real enduro course, but here's the thing - if this is the sort of event that would normally terrify you we think you're actually going to love this one. Many of the expert riders from the morning race have agreed to go out onto the course in the afternoon and act as your marshals - but these 'marshals' are actually going to teach you all they know - if you ever wished you could ride in the forest as well as you do when you're tucked up in your bed this is your chance to make it happen.

To get the best out of the day the entry will be limited and entries will be accepted on a strictly first come first served basis - so don't leave it too long, get some dutch courage down ya and click the link below!

The Inside Park...

Andy Frost is off to build a new life in Australia in a few weeks but couldn't resist having one last SCEC race before leaving. He'll be taking happy memories of the magnificent Inside Park venue with him having managed a convincing win there on his borrowed DMC KTM300. K4's Bradley King was the only other rider to match Andy's 12 laps. Sideways KTM rider Mark Cornick lead the early part of the race but being forced to stop to repair a damaged clutch perch put him out of contention - in spite of a valiant attempt to make up the lost time in the end he had to settle for 3rd place.

SCEC welcome KRIEGA to the fold...

SCEC are delighted to welcome Kreiga aboard for 2008. Their biking/mtb rucksacks and hydration sytems are universally accepted to be the best you can buy. We lend them to marshals and use them during course construction - and if they will cope with that they will cope with anything! www.kriega.com

Inside Park course looks like being the best yet!

Having just returned from the final route-planning recce for next weekend’s ‘Inside Park’ event we reckon this year’s course will be the best yet.
Featuring a good 6 miles of flowing woodland tracks and trails the course has no ‘stoppers’ but plenty of features to keep things interesting and promises that neat trick of satisfying both throttle jockeys and those preferring a more technical event!

There are a few places left in some classes but parking is limited due to the date change (the original parking field has now been ploughed) so once it’s full it’s full – best not leave it till the last moment!

Introducing the British AMCA Hare & Hound Championship

Exiting news…… The all-new AMCA Hare & Hound 'Enduro' Championship series.

The fully backed AMCA 2008 Championship will be run over four one day events. If it is successful certain rounds will be two day events for the 2009 series.

The four main clubs within the AMCA will each run a round a piece starting with the Chiltern Hills Enduro Club on 6th April. Next will come the Cotswold Enduro Club round on 25th May followed by the Xmoor Club round on 31st August. Last but by no means least will be our own round, the venue and date for which will be announced shortly.

The format for these events will be slightly different at each event with each club running their event to their usual formats which will make each event unique the one thing that will stay the same is the classes. Regs and other details for each clubs event will be available in the very near future.

The links to these clubs can be found below and the awards presentation is planned for the dirt bike show with press and other media coverage to go with it.

So basically its up to all you riders to fully support this new AMCA Championship, get booked in well in advance so the clubs can gear up for each round. It is hoped that the majority of competitors will come from within the four clubs membership base so we believe all the rounds to be full well in advance - so don’t drag your feet!

All four clubs are willing to give this new series 100% and hope you are too.
Its different its new and there is the potential for some of you to call yourselves an AMCA British Champion at the end of the year in what ever class you ride in - the format is user friendly so give it a go!

Yours in Sport

Petition to suspend Section 6 of NERC (and re-open our "green lanes"!)

Please sign the petition at the address below, it will only take a few seconds.

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Suspend-NERC/

The petition says "This section of the act extinguished motor vehicle rights from "restricted byways". The effect has been to close half the rights of way previously open to motor vehicles.

Motor vehicles may now only use "byways open to all traffic", only 2% of all rights of way. Many of these are effectively closed to motor vehicles as they are classed as restricted byways for part their length. Motor vehicles, therefore, can use substantially less than the 4,500km of rights of way quoted by the government.

Rather than reduce the potential for conflict of use, noise nuisance or damage, the act may have the opposite effect as it concentrates recreational vehicle use on a smaller number of rights of way.

Early commencement of the legislation has left many rights of way incorrectly recorded and led to the loss of motor vehicle rights over many historic routes. Suspending Section 6 would allow highways authorities, user groups and individuals to apply to reclassify these as "byways open to all traffic", ensuring that their status is correctly recorded."

Date clashes....

In spite of going to a great deal of trouble to plan our 2008 calendar (and publishing our dates way back in September last year!) we find ourselves once again in the ridiculous situation where date clashes force riders to choose between local events. On top of that the first round of the WOR’s new “Great Britain Cross Country” series has now been announced on our doorstep at Matchams and unfortunately clashes with our first race of the season on the 17th February at The Inside Park. We think this exciting new series will be a good thing for the sport and having spoken with Steve & Eddy at GBXC it seems they are tied by their TV contract as well as circuit availability so we have agreed to ask the land owners at The Inside Park if we might visit them two weeks later (on the 2nd March instead of the 17th February).

In order to truly give you the freedom to ride we have also been working on our other dates & present below our revised calendar – we could have dug our heels in and kept our original dates - but what's the point? - like you we just want to have fun on our bikes, so if it's all the same to you we'll leave the stupid games to others and we'll stick to what we do best - RACING!
