Fancy running Enduros?

After nearly 20 fantastic years it's time for a change. SCEC needs an enthusiastic masochist or few to take it on and make it even bigger and better. Sure it's hard work, but it's awesome fun too, so if it sounds appealing don't be shy - do something! Call me!!

Taking a break...

We had hoped that we'd be able to get back into running events by now but regret that personal circumstances continue to make that impossible. Rather than reschedule again and hope all will be well we've decided to knock this year on the head and reconvene for the 2014 season. It's not a total disaster - the detailed route for Shillingstone has been planned and approved and it's one of our best  yet  so it will be something really special to look forward to next season.

In the mean time sorry for the disappointment - we're missing them too :-(

Shillingstone rescheduled

Due to personal circumstances we very much regret that we'll be unable to put any events together for the next 3 months or so.  Shillingstone is probably one of the best events in the South and we're negotiating with the Forestry Commission to visit there later this year and all being well we'll run the event of September 22nd.

We're really sorry for the disappointment - if it helps no one is more disappointed than us.

Look forward to seeing out there soon

Ansty - February 24th

Sorry guys, the rain has beaten us again. It's not been looking hopeful for some time but having spoken with the farmer today he confirmed our worst fears – the place is totally waterlogged. Actually it's so bad even the cows aren't being allowed into the fields!

Sorry it's not better news but look forward to seeing you all soon

2013 Update

Memberships...

Please remember that membership renewals end on the 31st January. That's when race numbers are allocated (which will be last years or your preferred number whenever possible) and after then all membership applications will be treated as a new applications. If you leave it till then you might lose your favourite number, and of course it's more expensive to rejoin. A healthy membership is absolutely vital for the well being of the club so if you haven't done so yet please help us along a little by renewing yours in plenty of time.

Next Event: 24th February...

With the first event of the year planned for just 4 weeks it's time for an update. Normally we'd be off to the Inside Park for our February race but the land owner has said no for this year – the area is so sodden our event would cause unacceptable permanent damage. A quick ring around our various venues reveals a similar picture everywhere – when will it ever stop raining????
Fortunately the land owners at Ansty have offered their venue, subject to weather and ground conditions of course. We'll walk the course with the landowner 2 weeks before the event and see how it's looking. Ansty is a cracking venue so with just a little luck we'll have an awesome first event to kick the season off. In the mean time we need to get the entries under way so please enter as soon as you can if you'd like to ride. If we have to cancel we'll refund the full entry fee so don't worry about that.

The rest of the series...

With the ever popular Shillingstone lined up for June and several new venues in the offing it should be an awesome year - it just needs to stop bloody raining!

Christmas update...

In the 30 or so years I've been involved with Enduro sport I can't think of any as disappointing as 2012.  The weather has caused total mayhem, added to which we're losing more and more of our old venues and struggling to find enough new ones. We can find the time to run some awesome races but finding enough decent venues is becoming a full time job. Trouble is we already have full time jobs...

So we need your help guys.  As more and more of our best venues (and decent enduro land in general) gets given over to 'nature conservation' we need your help find new venues. If you know of anywhere that might be suitable please don't keep it to yourself, let us know - we'll do the hard work and if works out you needn't worry about entry fees at SCEC for several years!

With a little bit of help from you guys 2013 could be awesome - and what an amazing Christmas present for everybody that would be!

In the mean time Santa has his dirt bike out if you fancy a play...

Have a fantastic Christmas and looking forward to seeing you all next year!

Bramblecoombe...

Sorry guys, it's not going to happen :-(

Much of the farm is still waterlogged including the parking area. There's more rain forecast next week and having inspected to course and discussed the practicalities with the farmer we've reluctantly concluded that it would just be foolish to attempt to run in these conditions. It's a massive disappointment, especially as we've received such a big entry, but it's the only sensible decision.

In view of the size of the entry it'll take a few days to get all the refunds organised so please bear with us.

There's not much more I can say, it's not been much of a year for enduro sport - let's just hope next year is kinder to us!

All the best

Bramblecoombe set for 25th November...

All good things come to he who waits...

Following on from the disappointment of not being able to run at Bramblecoombe in September, we're delighted to confirm that the landowner has given the go ahead to hold our November event there.

Bramblecoombe is fabulous. It has a little bit everything we all love to see in a cross-country event, and being a working farm every time we race here it's different - who knows what we'll be able to come up with this time!

Bramblecoombe Postponed

The best laid plans...

When we booked the venue for our September event the farmer was confident he would have his crops in by race day - and of course normally he would have. But this year has been appalling for growing just about anything and the crops are weeks, maybe months behind. Much of the maize (which should be well over 2 metres high by now) is still little more than two feet high!
Sadly we've not managed to come up with an alternative venue but the farmer is still keen for us to race there later in the year so we'll have a look at both his and the local race calendars and see what can be done. We'll do what we can and announce the new date as soon as we can.

We're really sorry for the disappointment, it's a real pain, but please remember that whilst it's massively disappointing for us, it a catastrophe for the farmer.

Look forward to seeing you all soon

Date Change...

The landowner of our September venue has asked us if we could run our event planned for the 23rd September the following weekend instead. We hope the change of date won't prove too inconvenient and look forward to seeing there!

New Date: 30th September

Venue: Bramblecombe Farm
